We create beautiful, ecologically sustainable places with communities and clients
MTLD Studios is a landscape architecture and urban design practice creating thoughtful, enduring and environmentally responsive places. We work across public spaces, education, community infrastructure and urban environments, bringing together creative design, technical expertise and practical problem-solving.
Our approach integrates landscape, people and living systems to address contemporary social and environmental challenges. We value collaboration, inclusive design and environmental stewardship, working closely with clients, consultants and communities to deliver places that are functional, beautiful, buildable and built to last.
Our work is focused across Australia with a focus in Victoria and the Northern Territory always delivered through collaborative partnerships with local practitioners and communities. This approach brings together complementary expertise, local knowledge and shared experience to create context-responsive, meaningful outcomes.

Areas of Practice
Inclusive Design and Advisory
The places we create shape who feels welcome, safe and included. We embed accessibility, equity and care into design to create environments that support diverse needs and foster belonging.
Landscapes connect ecosystems, habitats and communities beyond property boundaries. We support landscape-scale planning and conservation to protect biodiversity, restore natural systems and strengthen ecological resilience.
Landscape Architecture
As climate change accelerates and biodiversity declines, we believe landscape-led thinking is essential to shaping a more resilient future. Through design, we work with natural systems to protect, restore and create places that respond to change and support both people and the environment.
Urban Design & Placemaking
Our cities are constantly changing. We believe good urban design puts people and landscape at the centre, creating connected, inclusive and resilient places that support community and wellbeing.
Green Infrastructure and Living Systems
Bioregional Planning and Conservation
Living systems are essential to healthy, resilient places. We integrate nature into the built environment to strengthen biodiversity, cool urban spaces and support thriving ecosystems.
“We who make a specialty of the art of garden design must ever be ever receptive to the lessons of nature.”
– Edna Walling ‘Gardens in Australia: their design and care’, 1946.
